1) The Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal launched the Startup India Seed Fund Scheme.
It aims at providing financial assistance to the startups for prototype development, proof of development, market-entry, commercialization, and product trials.

2) MMA, formerly known as the Mobile Marketing Association, has announced the appointment of Amit Jain, managing director, L’Oréal India as chairperson of its India board of directors.
He succeeds Priya Nair, executive director, beauty and personal care, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. Nair will move into a new role as chair emeritus of MMA India.

3) Professor G. Venkatasubbaiah, the grand old man of Kannada language, died in Bengaluru. He was 107.
GV, as he is popularly known in Kannada literary field, was a lexicographer, grammarian and literary critic. He has compiled 12 dictionaries. His works cover various forms of Kannada literature, including grammar, poetry, translation and essays.

4) In Madhya Pradesh, Corona patients will now be accommodated in army hospitals and isolation centers. Probably for the first time in the country, a state government has started using military resources to deal with the corona epidemic.

5) Walter Mondale, who asserted himself as an activist vice president under Jimmy Carter before losing a bid for the presidency in one of the worst routs in U.S. political history, Ronald Reagan’s 1984 re-election landslide, has died. He was 93.

6) Marathi film Puglya has won the best foreign language feature at the Moscow International Film Festival 2021, continuing its immensely successful international stint. Director Vinod Sam Peter's film about a pug and two boys has been winning accolades at foreign festivals.

7) India Open badminton tournament 2021 has been postponed in the wake of a sudden rise in the COVID-19 cases in New Delhi. The tournament was scheduled to be held at the KD Jadhav Indoor Hall in New Delhi from May 11-16.

8) The Indian arm of Puma has signed a long-term partnership deal with two upcoming players, Washington Sundar and Devdutt Padikkal.

9) Union ministry of skill development and entrepreneurship or MSDE will organise the first regional workshop to understand provisions of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana 3.0 or PMKVY 3.0 and to effectively implement the scheme in the North East Region (NER) at Gangtok.
The workshop is aimed at learning from the best practices and understanding the challenges related to PMKVY 3.0 and to build a detailed understanding on the use of the Skill India Portal.

10) To improve the well-being and immunity of prisoners across Tamil Nadu, Isha Foundation began special online yoga sessions for 10 days.
The sessions are being held in 18 prisons in Chennai, Chengalpattu, Vellore, Trichy, Coimbatore, Salem, Madurai, Cuddalore, and Palayankottai.
