1) Pinarayi Vijayan, who led the Left Democratic Front (LDF) to an unprecedented consecutive victory in the April 6 assembly polls, took oath as Chief Minister of Kerala for the second time along with 20 ministers.
Governor Arif Mohammed Khan administered the oath of office to 77-year-old Vijayan and ministers in a low-key function at the Central Stadium here, which was held completely in accordance with the COVID protocol.

2) Former Rajasthan Chief Minister and Bihar and Haryana governor, Jagannath Pahadia, passed away due to Covid-19. He was 89.
Pahadia was the chief minister of Rajasthan for about eleven months from June 6, 1980 to July 13, 1981.

3) A newly-developed multiplex RT-PCR kit has a higher accuracy of detecting Covid across the various mutant strains of the virus.
ICMR has validated this kit at the National Institute of Virology, Pune, and found that it has 97.3 per cent sensitivity and 100 per cent specificity in covid19 detection.

4) Subodh Chopra, who wrote dialogues for films such as Emraan Hashmi’s Murder and Irrfan Khan’s Rog, passed away due to Covid-19 complications.
Subodh had directed a Malayalam film titled Vasudha, and worked in Hindi serials for Mahesh Bhatt’s company.

5) Coal India Ltd has announced an investment of Rs 35 crore to install 25 oxygen generation plants, across 22 hospitals, in a bid to augment the supply of the life-saving gas amid a surge in COVID-19 infections.

6) India’s Tejaswini Shankar has bagged men’s high jump titles in the Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Manhattan, USA.

7) The Centre has sent a notice to WhatsApp asking it to withdraw a controversial update to its privacy policy and has sought a response within seven days.
The government has also warned the Facebook-owned firm that failure of a satisfactory response may result in steps “in consonance with law”.

8) Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL) is set to buy Japan’s SoftBank Group Corp. and Bharti Enterprises Ltd owned solar power producer SB Energy India.
It will buy it for an enterprise value of $3.5 billion.

9) State-owned broadcaster Doordarshan is set to establish a new channel, DD International — on the lines of BBC World — which it says will seek to project India's voice globally on significant domestic and global issues.
This will be Doordarshan's second channel with a similar objective.

10) To ensure people get fresh vegetables at their doorsteps amid the Covid-19 induced curfew, chief minister N Biren Singh launched a mobile application for home delivery of the same.
The ‘MOMA market mobile application’ can be downloaded from www.momamarket.com and it will also be available on Google Play Store soon.

11) India lost the ONGC Videsh Ltd-discovered Farzad-B gas field in the Persian Gulf after Iran awarded a contract for developing the giant gas field to a local company.

12) Flipkart has appointed Dinkar Ayilavarapu, a partner at consulting firm Bain & Company, as vice president for corporate strategy at the e-commerce firm.
He was a key member of Bain's Results Delivery and Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) practices in the Asia-Pacific region.

13) International Invincible Gold Medal for 2021 has been conferred to Union Education Minister Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank.
