1) The Principal Bench of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) recently directed the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) and other authorities to implement the Vishwamitri River Action Plan, including preparation for demarcation, plantation and maintaining the integrity of the river.
➟The National Green Tribunal Act, 2010 is an Act of the Parliament of India which enables the creation of a special tribunal to handle the expeditious disposal of the cases pertaining to environmental issues.

2) The income tax department will launch a new e-filing portal on June 7, which will be integrated to immediately process returns and issue refunds.
➟ The new e-filing portal is aimed at providing taxpayer convenience and a modern, seamless experience to taxpayers.

➟The theme for World Environment Day 2021 is 'Ecosystem Restoration' and Pakistan will be the global host for the big day. This day will also see the launch of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration. In 2020, the theme was 'Celebrate Biodiversity'.
5) Indian men and women’s hockey teams maintained their fourth and ninth position, respectively, in the latest International Hockey Federation (FIH) world rankings.

➟Air Marshal Ballabha Radha Krishna would be succeeding Chaudhari at the Western Command in Delhi while Air Marshal RJ Duckworth would be taking charge of the Central Air Command in Prayagraj.

➟ India’s first indigenous tumor antigen SPAG9 was discovered in 1998 by Dr. Anil Suri who heads the Cancer Research Programme at the NII.
➟National Institute of Immunology is an autonomous research institute located in New Delhi, under the Department of Biotechnology for research in immunology. NII was established on 24 June 1981, with Prof. M. G. K. Menon as Chairman of its governing body.
8) The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has decided to extend a special liquidity facility of ₹16,000 crores to the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI).
